It
was delightful to work with Professor
Andrew Burton from Newcastle University in the third collaborative project.
I
hosted him for the first time in 2015 and second time in 2016, I wrote to him
requesting him to work with Newcastle University students and staff in a
collaborative project.
I am
grateful that the collaboration has grown stronger , as the number of projects with Andrew
Burton (Newcastle University) and
school of Industrial and Fine Art (CEDAT Makerere University)
with the Uganda Community Art Skills
Development and Recycling (UCASDR) is increasing.
In this recent project
of March 2017 we worked with students
and staff of school of industrial and fine Arts Makerere university and Uganda community Art skill Development and
Recycling (UCASDR) to develop day to day products with the aim of
developing multi- disciplinary artworks
with Artisans from Grass root communities which is coordinated by Tusiime Mathias Artist
,Associated with UCASDR .
The UCASDR program major goal is to promote Innovation, Creative skills, Environmental Sustainability within grass root Communities in Uganda and helps to bridge the skills acquisition gaps between higher institutions of learning and the grass root communities.
I thank Newcastle University and professor Andrew Burton for all the support during all
the activities
The collaborative project between Newcastle University,
UCASDR, and school of industrial and Fine Arts -CEDAT intends to promote sustainability,
creative skills in the grass root communities, students, staff enabling them to share the skills and engage in research.
