The first batch of coffee tree that were planted a
year or so ago are ready for bending. They are few in number because most of
the seedlings in this batch were affected by the harsh dry weather. However we
are gradually replacing the affected coffee and cocoa plants.
The main challenge on this farm is lack of constant
water that can help irrigate the plants during the dry spell. I am therefore
kindly requesting the friends of UCASDR and all well-wishers to help support us
in any form. We have the space where we can dig a shallow well but we are
lacking funds to dig and construct the well plus costs of the pump and the on
ground reservoir to store the water.
If we introduce irrigation, it will be a great
opportunity for the farm. If we are supported to have constant water, it will
also help the community to get fresh water to use in their households.
